What to Wear: Holy Communions & Confirmations Style Guide 2024
Spring is just around the corner and that can only mean one thing... Communion and Confirmation season is on the horizon. These are fabulous family occasions where it's nice to put in a bit of effort in glamming up for the day.
It’s not only the mothers who like to look good on the big day but also Godmothers, grandmothers and aunties. When considering what to wear for Communion and Confirmation days we should decide on shape first then colour. It doesn’t matter what colour is “in” this season if the dress doesn’t suit your shape. The Spring/Summer stock will start arriving in stores from mid-January so start planning your outfits now!
Let’s start with the Confirmation style.
Confirmations usually begin in March which can be a little tricky with our unpredictable weather. For mothers, why not try a flattering maxi dress and short cardigan or jacket with platform heels and statement clutch or if dresses aren’t for you then opt for a tailored suit paired with a chic heeled loafer.

The colour palette you chose can be anything from pale pastels like powder blue or blush to vibrant bolds like orange, fuchsia pink or red. Why not keep your dress feminine floral and then add a bold
splash of colour with your shoes?
If you are a younger relative of the child (or just simply young at heart) then why not choose a knee length or mini dress? These are so versatile and flattering. Team with a cropped denim jacket and chunky heel sandals for a more youthful look.
Glamorous grannies can opt for a classic court shoe with a slightly lower heel or a classic leather loafer which would be fabulous with culotte-style trousers and a flowing top.
Communion Glamour.
Navigating the delicate balance between modest tradition and contemporary chic can be challenging for mothers of Communion children. As fashion trends evolve, so does the palette of options for communion attire. From graceful midi dresses to sophisticated two-piece ensembles, choices abound.
Dresses are such an elegant choice for a Communion guest. From mother of the child to grandmother and godmother there is a style of dress out there to suit every age and shape. More importantly, there is the perfect shoe! Choose from a classic court shoe, a sling-back, a platform heel or a sandal. Whether you are thinking of a classic stiletto heel or a platform block heel, we know that comfort is key. Comfort however does not mean we need to compromise on style!
As we’ve seen from the catwalk, metallic is massive! Gold, silver or platinum tones, the choice is yours. Imagine combining a structured white dress with ¾ length sleeves with a pair of chic metallic court shoes. Stunning! If you prefer a more vibrant colour palette then simply finish your look with a cream/white jacket or blazer for a sophisticated style. Some favourite metallic combos are greens, oranges and reds with gold then blues with silver.
Two-piece suits are another timeless option for Communion wear. Floral and monochrome designs are chic and elegant. Team with a simple black or white blouse to create a super classy look. To finish this stylish outfit add a pair of elegant high heel sandals.
